Metagitsi village

Location: From Thessaloniki → 108km- From Polygyros → 34,3km

For the residents of Metagitsi, their lives revolve around agriculture and livestock.

The town is built above an ancient city called Asa. Metagkitsi got its name from the phrase “μελαινα γη” which refers to the reddish soil found in the area and the “transfusion” of the populations that were saved in the surrounding areas after the Romanies destroyed the present village.
